You know, as a former Ohioan, that ours aren't supposed to come up til April! We'll see what happens this year.
Yes, precisely! The first year we were down here when I realized that it was Azaleas, daffs, and … everything that was not-just-crocus, I thought it was some kind of freak mistake!
To be honest, it doesn't look that much different waaay up here.
Last year we had an early spring, and then it snowed, freezing the early buds off a lot of plants and trees. Just Mother Nature being an evil little B!tch I guess.
And it has been remarkably mild everywhere this year, hasn't it? I hope you don't lose the buds again this year!
My paper whites are up, and the pollen is raining.
Oh GOD yes – the month of yellow is coming. I stop liking the South as it gets warmer. I expect a corresponding summer post about why I hate living in the South as the heat hits, too.
It's the little things that can light up a dreary day, and this is one. This is why I love Spring actually, all the little blooms and blossoms, waking as if from hibernation. Magically. 😀 X

It's funny. Fall has always been my favorite season. Then, suddenly, I fell in love in the spring 12 years ago, and now I adore spring, too!
I'm starting to think that I should start work on my gardens too this year. And my hubby and I keep meaning to go get more propane so we can bbq. Mmmmm! BBQ!!! 🙂
The irony here is that we bought this house with amazing landscaping. The family before us obsessively yard-worked. Me? Yeah I've done nothing. The yard is gorgeous still, but it will eventually go downhill, since even my basic maintenance skills suck!
Nice. I wish. I'm in Virginia, and I'm not seeing any blooming going on here just yet.
Yeah, I have to admit, this is the Deep South. 🙂
OMG that far already. I've seen crocus and hosta coming up here in Chicago, but not my daffodils. Wonder what this all means for our beloved summers?
I'm in Alabama, so it's not that serious. I'm originally from Ohio, so the daffs blooming in February instead of the crocus is so eye opening to me!
Lovely. It seems the same here in Northern CA, particularly since it has barley rained this winter — feels like spring!
And I do love spring and fall. I wish I could live places that would allow me to experience those two seasons year round!

Ohh. April. From Columbus Day until Tax Day, the South is the place to live. After that, it all goes down hill until late October.
Even here in the midwest, my tulips and daffodils are coming up. It's been so warm this winter. I really, really hope it stays warm enough to sustain them, I'd hate to see them killed!
Oooh. Me too. I hope the frost doesn't bite them!
that would certianly make me happy, i can't wait for spring! I want to find a way to do some gardening on my balcony but I have never done that before and i'm already an original "black thumb"

{Waves hi!} The trick to balcony gardening is good aeration of the soil. Toss some gravel in the bottom of your planters to keep the soil from grinching together around the opening…at least I think that's why I was doing it ages ago? Thanks so much for the tips!! Would broken clay pots work well also since they have the ability to also store water on the hotter days??
